What is she thinking? With all of Hollywood's moguls at her feet with their chequebooks open, Canadian actress Ellen Page has chosen her next project: a horror movie for Sam Raimi, says the Hollywood Reporter. It's called Drag Me to Hell. Sam, who will direct, wrote the script with his brother Ivan. Production starts March 17 in Los Angeles. After that, Page is doing a roller-blading picture, Whip It, with Drew Barrymore directing. Strange. After her success in Juno, you'd think she should be able to get some good movies. .
PM promises $20m to move horses for Pope
PRIME Minister John Howard has promised $20 million to help relocate move horses from Sydney's Royal Randwick Racecourse ahead of the Catholic Church's World Youth Day in 2008. The horses will have to be moved to Warwick Farm and Rosehill Gardens during the July 15-20 event, which Pope Benedict XVI and up to 500,000 people will attend. "The Coalition recognises there are significant costs involved in constructing the necessary infrastructure at Warwick Farm and Rosehill Gardens to accommodate the Royal Randwick horses and trainers," Mr Howard said. The pledge follows discussions between the Commonwealth, the NSW Government, Australian Jockey Club and the NSW Racing and Trainers Association about the financial burden of World Youth Day 2008. "This funding will help make the youth day a big success while looking after the interests of the horse racing industry," Mr Howard said.
The Paris test
Shortly after meeting my husband-to-be, I took him to Paris as a test. If he was The One, I told myself, then he would fall in love with the city as I had. He passed the audition. And even as diapers replaced drinks at St-Germain cafés, we wanted to return to Paris. But it wasn't Euro Disney we wanted to show the kids. Or obvious kid-friendly attractions such as the elevator ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower. In other words, another test was in order – this time of Paris itself. Could its beauty and charm live up to a harried mother's scrutiny? The first hurdle was the hotel. We knew we couldn't chase tots up spiralling staircases – utterly charming in another life. So on this trip we opted for an apartment-hotel called Résidence Pierre et Vacances in a high-rise.

Just the same, nothing tells a woman "I love you" quite like having a shot of human growth hormone delivered to her door. And how about Andy Pettitte admitting he was supplied HGH by his father? Were you like me and had trouble just getting the old man's car keys? Forgive me, Sweetheart. I totally misremembered Valentine's Day. Wow, who would have thought? Roger Clemens has greater support in the Republican Party than Rudy Giuliani. … In an attempt to come to Clemens' defense, Jose Canseco insisted he is "1,000 percent" certain the pitcher was not at a party where the two allegedly discussed steroids. Great, now even percentages are being juiced. To celebrate the city's Super Bowl championship, strippers at New York's Rick's Cabaret offered any Giants player a free lap dance.
Garden City continues mastery of Derby
For the Garden City boys, Derby has become a pretty sweet place to visit. Thursday, the Buffaloes won a 63-60 thriller over the Panthers in a Class 6A sub-state semifinal, Garden City's fourth straight win at Derby dating back to a 2003 sub-state title. "It's really something else," Garden City coach Jeff Tanner said. "Maybe they'll let us play here Saturday." Sorry, coach. That game, a sub-state final against No. 2-ranked Southeast, will be played at Campus. But Thursday, it was all about Garden City point guard Bobby Wesley, who finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, his second straight triple-double. "Our biggest challenge tonight was to stop Bobby Wesley and we couldn't get it done," said Seth Hardiman, who led Derby with 19 points.
Guerrero retains featherweight title
Guerrero reclaimed the vacant title in February 2007 with a TKO of Spend Abazi. Six of his last seven fights overall have ended with sudden stoppages. Guerrero's wife, Casey, climbed into the ring for a post-fight hug after one of Guerrero's fights for the first time in more than a year. The mother of two was diagnosed with leukemia late last year, only days before Guerrero fought Martin Honorio in Tucson, Ariz. While Casey was in the hospital back home in the Bay Area last fall, Guerrero -- who had barely slept in the previous week -- knocked out Honorio 56 seconds into the bout with one devastating punch. Casey's leukemia was found to be in remission in late December, and she felt well enough to attend Guerrero's first fight since beating Honorio.

LAST night after her uncontested "victory" in Florida, Hillary Clinton was introduced by... Alcee Hastings, removed from by the Senate in 1998 after impeachment from* in the House, under a heavy cloud of suspicion of bribery when he was a federal judge. (A bit of the colourful background here.) Bill Clinton pardoned Mr Hastings' alleged co-conspirator on his last day in office. Doesn't Ms Clinton have any slightly less dodgy-looking Floridian backers? Or if slightly suspect they must be, ones whose former associates had not been pardoned from federal prison by her husband? *[Correction: Mr Metcalph is correct. Back to the turn of the century
Memories of being best friends forever and promises of love flooded their minds as they waited to open the can.“Good memories," said Jasper Jackson, now a senior at Salem High School. While catching up, the group waited anxiously for their former fourth-grade teacher, Ashley Duffey , to open the tin and discover what they placed inside.Duffey didn't remember everything the students placed inside but she recalls telling the students to write their future dreams and wishes along with drawing a picture of how they thought they would look.“I think I put something stupid in there," said Tyler Brown, a senior at Patrick Henry High School. “I just want to see."Tyler brought along his mother, Bonnie Brown, to the event. Brown, who often volunteered with Tyler's class while he was at Raleigh Court Elementary, said she wanted to see if Tyler placed one of her belongings in the tin eight years ago.“I want to see what he put in there, and plus I want to see if he put something he wasn't supposed to in there," she said.
Oscar Nominee Javier Bardem's Work Speaks Volumes
Javier Bardem, the jig is up. For years, the Spaniard relied on a fallback line when American directors came calling: He simply didn't speak English. That's what he told Ethan and Joel Coen when they approached him about playing a stony, roaming, coin-tossing assassin in "No Country for Old Men." But since nailing the role that has earned him a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor, Bardem has conquered that linguistic beast, a stray grammatical error here or there notwithstanding. .

Hillary Rodham Clinton is right this time
I'm not sure how I'll make it through the day. I was sure this was the perfect match. Kid Rock, Tommy Lee (the husbands) and all the other boyfriends weren't right for her. But Salomon, the poker playing online sex video guy? Who'd have thought he wasn't the one for the former Baywatcher! Let's respect their privacy in these difficult times. Read The Paper ...
