| Wrongfully detained man seeking compo
Tony Tran, 35, who is seeking to rebuild his life with his nine-year-old son in Melbourne, is demanding an apology and compensation from the Federal Government. "I continue to suffer ongoing physical and psychological health issues and I am receiving medical treatment," Mr Tran said. "Hai (my son) is improving, but he suffers ongoing difficulties from the experience." Mr Tran and his family fled to the US as Vietnamese refugees when he was a child, his migration lawyer David Manne said. Years later, in 1992, he arrived in Australia on a visitor visa and settled in Brisbane, where he married his second wife, a South Korean national, in 1997. Mr Tran worked, the couple bought a house, and his wife gave birth to their son Hai, who is now nine years old.
Spring into action with marvelous March events
Beginning at 7 p.m. March 1; ending at 10 a.m. March 2. Once the museum doors have been locked for the evening and the lights go down, this exciting, caper-filled adventure will begin. Participants (ages 9 through 13) will search for ways to perfect their aliases and cover stories; check-in at "Border Patrol"; gather intelligence regarding real spy skills; and prepare for sensational intrigue. Over a period of hours, everyone will transform themselves through disguise, make and break secret codes, uncover important secrets, interrogate spies and hunt for a mole within the ranks. While all this is going on, the adults (one adult required for every two youths) hiding nearby will be kept on their toes with their own super-clandestine assignments. As day breaks, enemy agents will be exposed in a dramatic finale.
Free medical care for talented Yemenis
My experience in giving medical care to Yemeni and Arab creative persons residing in Sanaa started as back as far as Aug 15, 1992. I started providing the service in a single room at Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Qirbis clinic on Baghdad Street. The driving force behind that initiative that was unprecedented in any other country of the world was my appreciation for intellectuals and artists in general, and of those living in Yemen in particular. Historical documents prove that they have spearheaded changes for the better as they struggled their way to revolution, liberation, renaissance and unity. As is usually stated, they cause their nations to be remembered thanks to their intellectual production, most of which will continue to crown the forehead of the nation. It was they who, for the first time, managed to build our countrys NGOs by way of example and not limitation, for example with the Aden-based Arab Literature Club.
Sick with the flu? Employers say 'stay home'
I used to be one those people that thought, if you are sick, just go home. I hated it when people came to work sick," said Ryan Klee, a 27-year-old marketing executive. "And yes, I'd rather be resting, but sometimes you just have to suck it up and take some medicine and get it done." Klee is sick and at work, but he's quarantined himself in his office, keeping his door shut and avoiding face-to-face chats with co-workers. Up against a tight deadline for Georgia Cancer Foundation's 25th "Celebration of Life" event featuring Vince Dooley, Klee faces meetings and a pile of papers. He says taking a couple days off was just not an option. And Klee's not the only one sick, either. "I told a co-worker on Friday, 'You look like death, you should go home,'" he said.
Michigan Supreme Court hears domestic partner benefits case
An Ingham County Circuit Court judge ruled the benefits did not violate the state constitution, but the Michigan Appeals Court ruled they did. In February 2007, the Michigan Court of Appeals ruled to overturn the trial courts decision that public employers may offer these benefits without violating the "marriage amendment." The ruling was appealed by Attorney General Mike Cox, who intervened as a defendant. The Supreme Court will weigh in by June of 2008 on which court was correct. "It is potentially hugely important," said Marc Spindelman, an associate professor of law at Ohio State University and a visiting professor at the University of Michigan. "It is important nationally and if they (the Michigan Supreme Court) breaks from the Ohio court and nullifies domestic partner benefits it could set a standard." The Ohio Supreme Court ruled earlier this year that the Ohio marriage amendment only impacted actual relationships that contained the bundle of rights attributed to marriage.

MC posts Dec-Q GAAP EPS of $0.48, after $0.01 charge. We see broad-based unit gains led by AVC nets (plasma/other TVs, digital cameras), home appliances (air conditioners, refrigerators), and lesser for components/semiconductor devices, other areas. MC's core plasma TVs saw solid 21% sales gain, 18% for smaller LCD TV unit. But, we see the latter technology widening global market share gap. MC affirms FY 08 (Mar.) net income target of about $4.2B, but cites continued exposure to higher oil/raw material prices, intense competition. Our DCF-based target price remains $23. /T.Amobi, CPA, CFA .

Romance Report: Kate vs. Pete, Olsen PDA
We've put the wedding on pause and the engagement as well. I didn't want to force the wedding on Spencer. We're just going back to being boyfriend and girlfriend ..." Heidi tells the mag, with her partner in publicity piping in, "When our relationship was flawless." As for her engagement ring, which TMZ.com has claimed wasn't so much a honkin' diamond as a thrifty amethyst, the fame-seeking starlet says, "I turned it into a pendant ... It wasn't my dream ring. I don't like what it represents. I might sell it." Her soul not included. Nothing says romance quite like scooping up the bullet-ridden bodies of game birds, at least if you're Prince William and Kate Middleton, who were snapped nuzzling in between hauling dead fowl on a pre-holiday pheasant shoot this week in Windsor. According to the London Sun, the "festive" outing was a Christmas gift from the prince's grandma, the Queen, and offered further evidence over how serious his rekindled relationship with Middleton has become.
Songs for a great cause
The 1,800 or so folks at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse on Sunday night came to embrace the whole Steven Curtis Chapman. They opened their arms for his contemporary Christian music, ready to sing out in full voice as he and his five-piece band really rocked the house. And they obviously opened their hearts to his message. Chapman and his wife are the proud parents of six children. The eldest three are their own biologically. The youngest three are their own in every way but. He stood onstage and spoke proudly of them all: Emily, 21, who has grown to be wise; Caleb Stevenson, 18, and Will Franklin, 16, who have grown to be in his band, playing guitar and drums, respectively; and Shaohannah, 8, Stevie Joy, 5, and Maria, 4, who became one with the family the moment he and his wife, Mary Beth, welcomed them to their home.
