How To Marry A Millionaire — Really

There are more millionaires than ever, and no shortage of people who want to share their success.

But one event in Manhattan last week turned the old idea of a gold digger on its head.

"We are hosting a speed date exclusively available to ultra-wealthy women and hot young men," said event organizer Jeremy Abelson.

One female in attendance, Gail Garrison, said she is a 44-year-old fashion designer.

Another said: "My name is Vivian Cha. I'm 47 years old. And I'm a physician."

Nancy Richards said: "I'm 50 years old. But my motto is '50 is the new 30.'"

"I'm open to dating men that are younger, whether it's five years, ten years, 12 years," Garrison said.

What did one of the younger men there have to say? Paul Janka, 27, said: "I want to be coddled, yes."

"There are a lot of people who are gonna say, 'That's disgusting.' Anytime you integrate money into dating, people are going to say, 'That's disgusting.' And it's usually by people who don't have any money," Abelson said.

JBL swaps microphone for another run in ring

When John Bradshaw Layfield enters the ring, fans call him many unflattering things. That's to be expected because he is one of the most-hated characters in World Wrestling Entertainment

One other thing they can call him is "successful."

The big man from Sweetwater, Texas, has had an accomplished wrestling career dating back to 1992, which has seen him win multiple titles — including the WWE championship. Outside the ring, he's a financial wizard — offering his valuable insight on the Fox Business Channel and other media outlets to go along with a best-selling book Have More Money Now.

Founders sell HotOrNot

UC Berkeley grads James Hong and Jim Young have sold HotOrNot for a reported $20 million.

Hong confirmed TechCrunch's report but not the $20 million figure. The buddies created HotOrNot, which allows users to rate people on a scale of 1 to 10, during the first dotcom wave in 2000, creating a social phenomenon. It reportedly inspired future Web sites, such as YouTube.

Since then, the San Francisco site has added other elements, including turning the site into an online dating service and, more recently, developing applications on Facebook.

HotOrNot was acquired by the same investors as Avid Life Media, who will create Hot Or Not Media and grow the company. Hong and Young will not be regular contributors to the new company. "Next is just to hang out and help companies I've invested in for a while, then figure things out after a nice long summer vacation," Hong said in an instant messaging conversation.

Penned-up love leads to 'I dos'

Azzo's Restaurant and Bar on Jamestown's Main Street has a tiny alcove behind a glass door where diners are allowed to write their comments on the cuisine and ambiance in large grease-pen letters on the walls.

Gina McRae, a raven-haired mortgage broker from Copperopolis, wasn't completely clear on the concept last New Year's Eve, when she took pen in hand and wrote a few glowing lines about her boyfriend, Bruce Eads, also from Copperopolis, rather than commenting on the restaurant.

Eads, a partner in a Copperopolis fire sprinkler company, sat at the dinner table with Robin Dimiceli, Gina's mortgage firm partner, unaware that his praises were being penned for all to see.

When Gina returned to the table, Dimiceli, took her turn in the alcove, and saw Gina's note, which read: "Here with my boyfriend, love him with all my heart."

"It was their two-year anniversary," Dimiceli explained,"They met on New Year's Eve 2005 in Copper and had been dating ever since."

Dimiceli came back to the table and urged Bruce to go have a look at the grease-pencil Valentine.

Salacious Internet photos of Kings dancers cause stir

Caught with their skirts down. Off the job and out of uniform. Make the jokes -- bloggers are -- but the Sacramento Kings aren't laughing and are mostly mum on a public relations flap over some salacious photos posted online of its Royal Court dancers.

In one photo, four women are seen bending over -- their backsides showing and leaving little to the imagination. Another shows two women posing suggestively as if about to kiss.

At the least, the incident poses the question: What were they thinking?

The photos appear to be old -- perhaps dating back at least two years -- but the perils of digital footprints provide a cautionary tale that what happens in Las Vegas -- or in this case, the locker room or private quarters -- doesn't always stay there.

Nasdaq decides to delist Aspen Technology stock

A patent judgment against Boston Scientific Corp. has jumped to $501 million after a judge tacked on an additional $69 million in interest. US District Judge John Ward ruled to expand the damages award - decided by a federal jury in Marshall, Texas - to cover interest on royalties dating to the Natick-based medical device maker's 2004 US launch of drug-coated heart stents. Jurors awarded $432 million on Monday to Dr. Bruce Saffran, who argued the stents violated his 1997 patent covering technology to deliver medication within the body to heal injuries. A company spokesman declined to comment further. (AP)
