Christina Ricci's Aussie romance confirmed

HOLLYWOOD A-lister Christina Ricci has jetted into Oz for a romantic summer holiday with her Aussie boyfriend Kick Gurry.

The little-known star of Looking for Alibrandi, Gurry has upgraded from single status to dating big screen darling Ricci - with their Down Under visit to Sydney and Melbourne confirming months of speculation about a possible romance.

The pair met in September while starring in the Hollywood blockbuster Speedracer, a live-action remake of the 1960s Japanese cartoon, which also stars Matthew Fox, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman.

Gurry, who relocated to Los Angeles a year ago, and Golden Globe nominee Ricci were thought to have revved into a romance after their relationship sped from the set of the film into real life.

However, while a number of cosy sightings of the pair set Tinseltown tongues a-wagging, agents for both Ricci and Gurry have declined to comment on or confirm the romance.

Widow, 65, seduced out of $60,000 by online 'boyfriends'

A BRISBANE widow is on the verge of bankruptcy after being seduced out of $60,000 in successive online romance scams.

The 65-year-old first-time internet user was also new to dating when she went looking for love online last year.

After joining a meeting website for seniors, the woman was approached by a man claiming to be an English professor of physics who was building a robotic tractor.

The woman, who wants to be identified only as Shirley, quickly fell in love with "James" who over several months sent photos of himself, his children and his passport.

"I wanted to meet like-minded people," she said.

"We were supposed to be married this Christmas. He asked if I could assist him with his project and I didn't hesitate because we were a couple.

When co-workers date, professionalism trumps romance

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Dating a co-worker is rarely a good idea, but with people spending more time at work, it happens. Workplace and etiquette experts warn employees to proceed cautiously.Don't send flowers to the office and certainly not an electronic card, especially an X-rated one. That will get you in even hotter water than a relationship.“People let their guard down," says Barbara Pachter, co-author of “New Rules @ Work: 9 Etiquette Tips, Tools, and Techniques to Get Ahead and Stay Ahead." “A lot of this is common sense, but when people get involved in romance, common sense goes out the window. It may ultimately impact your career."Apparently many workers have learned their lessons about office romance. Fewer workers are looking for love in the office, according to a Spherion Corp.

Jesse Mccartney - Mccartney Denies Online Dating

LATEST: U.S. teen pop sensation JESSE MCCARTNEY has denied he is looking for love online - insisting he set up a profile on a dating site for a "joke". The 20-year-old told U.S. magazine In Touch Weekly he had signed up to Jewish dating site JDate.com - even though he isn't Jewish. MCCartney, who recently ended his romance with David Cassidy's daughter Katie, admits he did join the website - but only for amusement and not as a serious way to meet women. He tells America's Us Weekly, "I just wanted to set the record straight and let everyone know that the profile I created on JDate was a joke! "I was hanging' with some friends and we thought that it would be really funny to see peoples' reactions. The hilarity of it all is that until I announced having a profile on the site, nobody believed it was me.

Love Is in The Air from Bondi to Mount Fuji

Australians seeking love on Valentine's Day speed-dated in deckchairs on Bondi Beach, while Japanese trekked through snow in search of romance and Filipinos sang syrupy ballards. More than 2,000 people signed up for 16 simultaneous speed dating events in eight Australian cities on Thursday, with the proceeds going to charity.

Australian newspapers ran pages of Valentine's Day love messages to people with nicknames like "Boo Bubby", "Pookey", "The Phantom" and "Wicked Wench". "I love 2 Things", wrote a romantic Johnny, adding "cars & u".

Australia's mobile telephone networks were preparing for an onslaught of love over the airwaves this Valentine's Day. Top phone company Telstra expected picture messages to be up 60 percent and video calls 50 percent higher than normal.

Matchmaking Cupid Loves Giving To Charity

"I was kind of bummed out about dating," Kong said.

Then she met Joe Noel. Now they're half-way down the aisle, CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller reports.

"I like to keep it a secret," she said.

Kong and Noel give credit to a matchmaker.

"They are the cutest couple," said Pari Livermore.

Admittedly old-fashioned, Livermore is the matchmaker who brought them together. She's helped over 200 couples tie the knot.

"A lot of it is done on my intuition," she said.

From her home office in Northern California, she works by referral only, tirelessly nudging couples together.

On the phone in her office, she says: "he is so handsome, and I think you'll like him."

In a city known for romance, it's no surprise that lonely hearts looking for love might ask for a little help.

Forget MPs, what about our privacy?

Most people can easily distinguish between eavesdropping on jail visits and routinely bugging an MP's phone.

Will they, should they, care if the Wilson Doctrine is dropped and the specific protection afforded to MPs is removed? Many backbenchers are on extremely slippery territory here, and this is why: the current crop of MPs has overseen, allowed, passed into law, a vast expansion of surveillance over the ordinary citizen.

Weekend preview: Elite teams flock to weekend tournaments

Since 2004, Houston's Minute Maid Park has been the center of the college baseball universe in February. The Houston College Classic (formerly the Minute Maid Classic) has earned a reputation as the unofficial kickoff event to the college baseball season, attracting bunches of elite teams and scores of scouts and scouting directors eager to get an early look at some of the nation's top talent.

This year's Houston College Classic figures to be another strong event -- you can expect fireworks anytime rivals and perennial national powers Rice and Texas get together, and unranked teams like Tennessee and Oklahoma have intriguing young talent -- but it's no longer a can't-miss stop on the college baseball calendar.

The Feb. 22 uniform start date has created a proliferation of early-season tournaments from coast to coast.
