Special Assignment: Love and Livestock

Finding love is like looking for a needle in a haystack, and living miles away from anyone only makes it harder. "You don't see anybody out here other than the mail man," Maquoketa farmer John Mayland said. John's friends in Dyersville, who also have a side hobby of matchmaking, say he's the cream of the crop. "We will see young girls come in here and we're really focused on John lately. We ask if they're dating...We haven't got anybody else in line yet. We're still working on John," Christi Hess said. But the dating game is tough in small town eastern Iowa. "I have to go to the cities. It's 60 miles to go to Davenport, it's 20 or 30 miles to Dubuque. Otherwise, it's small town bars and you never know what you get in a bar. Nobody's looking for commitment. So, it's pretty slim pickings around here," John said.

zinda of Australia says… I salute Ratu Epeli on his insightful approach. However yet another dimension to this needs to be explored. How much of the $40million lease money really trickles down to grassroot Fijians needs to be assessed. And I do mean 'trickle' doen to orfinary Fijians given that the hierarchy 'sponges' up most of this sum.

The star-studded Internet sensation was retaliation for a similar video Kimmel's girlfriend comedian Sarah Silverman made with Affleck's best friend Matt Damon.

Affleck told Entertainment Weekly that when it came to lining up other stars to appear with him and Kimmel in the comedy video, Harrison Ford topped his list.

"(The executive producer of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live') called me back 10 minutes later, 'We got Harrison Ford!' And I was like: 'What? Harrison Ford said yes?' He was awesome. I think people were naturally a little bit intimidated by him, and didn't want to push him at all," Affleck said.

"He saw his wardrobe looked kind of normal and was like, 'Don't we have anything here that's mesh?' That beat gets the biggest laugh in the whole video, where he's got his chain and he's in the convertible and he blows a kiss.

Home and Away's Indiana Evans growing up fast

Although she's only 17 there's always speculation about who Evans is dating and, when it's rumoured to be someone from the Channel 7 soap opera, it's sure to make the internet.

But Evans says it didn't take long to figure out how to deal with the speculation surrounding her love life.

"It's really odd, it's bizarre when people you haven't met say things about you, but I don't go looking for it," she says.

"Being on Home and Away I have grown up a lot quicker than I would have if I wasn't on the show. But, then again, I don't have a life to compare it to because when I was starting out I was so much younger."

Evans' character Matilda Hunter also had some big issues to deal with last year when she broke up with on-screen boyfriend Ric Dalby, played by Mark Furze, after he had an affair with a married woman.

Cosmo says: Apple store is the best place to meet men

Hey, I'm no relationship guru (I write about tech, for goodness' sake). So when my single friends ask me about the best places to meet men in San Francisco, I draw a blank. As much as I'd like to help them meet a Silicon Valley man-which is what they're really after-I can't, because I don't know many single men or where they hang out. I'm married, and my friends know that.

But I guess deep down they hope I can introduce them to a few geek friends, because you know, I'm in the "tech field." If I didn't know better, I'd tell them to just go online, since that's where the guy geeks are. But a Cosmopolitan article says the best place to meet guys is at the Apple store.

Yes, the Apple store! Who would've thought?

Those experts in sex, love, and dating say most guys are natural gadget lovers, and the vibe at the Apple store is "conducive to man meeting." The article goes on to suggest single women should enroll in a free workshop, check their email while at the store, or just stop by to survey the store's "good-looking merchandise." I guess this puts male "Geniuses" at a great advantage.

Editorial: Where are Congress’ priorities?

A Gallup poll from early January showed Congress holding onto a 23 percent approval rating. Congress even managed to score 9 percentage points lower than President Bush did in the same poll.

Perhaps the fact that our nation's most powerful legislative body is getting involved in professional sports has something to do with it.

Cheating has no place in professional sports. We doubt anyone but those doing the cheating themselves would think otherwise. But is it really the place of Congress to step in to clean it up?

The nation has so many problems: a dwindling economy, a war that's taken nearly 4,000 American men and women from us and skyrocketing health care costs. And Congress is concerned with whether any of Clemens' 4,672 strikeouts came because he was on the juice?

To be fair, Congress isn't totally ignoring these problems — the House and Senate finally agreed on the economic stimulus package that will put $168 billion back into the hands of American taxpayers.

Madeleine McCann: A Pundit Says, Judge Eurico Reis Orders And The Sun ...

I am Portuguese, very upset about this tragedy. For the first time have I read something (Bugalus 1970 3A) that makes sense. When Kate discovered the disappearence of her older daughter she is supposed to have exclaimed: «THEY've TAKEN her». My English is poor but if she had refferred to THEY, that's because she was refferring to «someone she knew». And using the «HAVE TAKEN», that's because she was expecting something to happen, however she didn't know «when». In any other circumstance of real pain and surprise I think she might have said»

TCs unhappy with Paris meeting

He said consumers were getting an upgraded service for the right price.

Akel says the arguments against the deal have been "unconvincing".

The Watchdog Committee is to compile a report on its findings and submit it to the plenum next week.

It remains unclear what the cost will be at the sharp end of subscriber fees for the enhanced selection. Plus what incentive would there be for 70,000-odd subscribers to stay loyal to pay-TV channel LTV, if miVision viewers are getting more choice for less cash.

But the furore has turned more into a political dogfight rather than one that has the real interests of the viewing public at heart.

Claims the semi-government utility faces financial doom if the deal falls through have also been scoffed at by Disy.

11/15 TNA Impact Review by Wilkenfeld: The Impact debut of Booker T ...

As we come on the air, Cornette is telling the announcers that because he hasn't signed with TNA yet, they can't say Booker T's name. I mean _______ _'s name. I guess this is their way od making sure people who didn't get the PPV results have to watch more of the show to find out who the mystery partner was. Kurt comes to the ring, followed by Karen, AJ Styles, and Tomko. Angle says that AJ and Tomko made the right choice by joining Angle's Alliance, because apparently they like alliteration. He says that now they're part of his family, at which point Nash comes out and questions how lasting a bond that really is with Kurt. Angle calls Nash a loser, and when Nash points out that he had Sting beat last night, Kurt says to just shut up and bring it. Nash does, and it's a three on one mugging until the X Division and Chris Harris (or as Tenay says "the entire locker room") come to make the save.
